Weekend Race Recap
FRIDAY
Hello again Monster Jam Fans from the Volunteer State. Here's the report from Friday night's show in Knoxville, TN!
It was a somewhat cool and windy evening as the crews tended to their trucks and got ready for tonights Monster Jam. The fans were there early and they were ready to get down to business so let's get right to the action.
Monster Jam Wheelie competition started things off with a bang as Dream Catcher fired the first shot with a 21.

Full Boar followed it up with a 26 to take the lead and looked tough to beat. Up next we had something happen that I can't remember ever happening. Captain's Curse and Grave Digger also turned in scores of 26. The officials had a difficult decision to make as all 3 competitors turned in solid passes. After much deliberation it was decided that Alex Blackwell and Captain's Curse your winner in Monster Wheelie!
Monster Racing was a wild one as Bad Habit wasn't able to make the call due to the fact that they just finished the truck the day before the event. Joe Sylvester promised to have the bugs worked out and will be in action for tomorrow nights show. With only 4 trucks left we went to a Round Robin style of elimination which was a tough one for rookie drive Drew Haygood and Dream Catcher as he was unable to notch a win agains this tough field. Full Boar was on his game though as he would have to go against Captain's Curse to see who would go on to the Final to take on Grave Digger. Captain's Curse was on it hard from the start and Full Boar was right there with him, it was a close one but Captain's Curse would move on to the Final to go against Digger. The could have been the Final in any arena large or small but you had it right here at Thompson Boling arena. Digger and Captain's Curse put on a heck of a pass and by the slimmest of margins it would be Rod Schmidt and Grave Digger with the Win! Congratulations Digger!
Quad Wars was a battle between Team Alabama and Team Tennessee with some serious bar banging going on. 10 laps would decide our winner and it was Team Tennessee coming out on top.
Monster Doughnut was a spinning and grinning affair as Full Boar charged out of the gates and set the bar with an awesome 27, followed by Captain's Curse going Aussie style with with a right hander and a 23. All eyes were now on Digger. Could he Double Down and pick up 2 victories in the same night? Yes he could, Digger managed to top Full Boar with an impressive 29 and the win. Digger Doubles Down!
Last but not least was everybody's favorite, Monster Freestyle. Dream Catcher was out first and put down a solid 21 point run but Full Boat would have none of it. Just like Hot Wheel says, "Beat That" and Full Boar did just that with a 29 to take the lead! Captain's Curse had a tough act to follow but came up just a hair short with a 28. Grave Digger was our last truck of the night and Rod Schmidt kicked the tires and lit the fires ,turning and burning his wasy to a perfect 30 point score for the Win! I guess we'll call it the Triple Down as Digger goes 3 for 4 on the night, Great Job Digger!
That's gonna wrap it up for us here in Knoxville, we'll see you tomorrow night. For those of you that can't make it there live, make sure to check us out only on SPEED. The official Chanel of Monster Jam! Good night from Knoxville!

SATURDAY
Saturday Night in Knoxville will be one that they will talk about for a long time to come. All night long it was amazing feat after amazing feat, let's get right to the action! First of all, when we saw the turnout for the Built Ford Tough Party in the Pits, we new it was gonna be a big one.
Monster Wheelie started us off with Rookie drive Drew Haygood and Dream Catcher who knocked down a 21 to start the show. Full Boar and Bad Habit then took to the floor and each one topped it with a 23 and a 24 respectively. Bad Habit the new truck to beat with the 24 point run. Out next was Captain's Curse and Alex Blackwell stood it on end for an incredible 26! Last but not least was Grave Digger who managed a solid 23 point effort which wasn't enough to knock Captain's Curse from the hotseat, you winner in Wheelie, Alex Balckwell and Captain's Curse!
Monster Jam Racing kept the fires lit in the Knoxville crowd as Full Boar drew the Bye run into the Semis. Captain's Curse used his momentum from the Wheelie win to sky past Joe Sylvester and Bad Habit to move to the Semi. Dream Catcher had a tough row to hoe against Grave Digger and it was Digger advancing to the semi.
Semi-Final action saw Bad Habit come back as the Fast Loser to take on Full Boar. Ed Eckert and Full Boar would not be denied as they holeshot to the Final to take on the winner of the other Semi-Final matchup. Grave Digger and Captain's Curse went at it tooth and nail to see who would face Full Boar. Captain's Curse would be that Truck. It was close but Captai'ns Curse gets the W and goes to the Final.
Full Boar versus Captain's Curse, this could be a final round matchup in any arena but you had it right here in Knoxville. When the smoke cleared it would be Alex Blackwell and Captain's Curse doubling down and taking the Win!
Quad Wars was a hard charging affair as Team Tennessee (in volunteer orange I might add) notched a well deserved victory over Team Alabama. Great work!
Monster Doughnut was the start of something big. Bad Habit and Full Boar turned in solid runs of 26 and 29 respectively. It looked like Full Boar's 29 would hold up but it was not meant to be. Captain's Curse and Grave Digger were turning and burning with that TORCO race fuel and both knocked out perfect 30 point scores! We had to go to the officials and they declared Grave Digger the winner in Monster Doughnut!
This all built us up to a fever pitch as we went to Monster Freestyle. Dream Catcher seemed to be coming to grips with the track and put in an excellent 22 point run as well as Full Boar who threw down a 24 to take the lead. Up next was former Joe Sylvester and Bad Habit who notched a 23 to take over second place at that point. Captain's Curse upped the ante and turned in a high flying 27 point Freestyle but Rod Scmidt and Grave Digger would not be denied. He rocked out a perfect 30 and a Double Down to cap off a great night. Your Winner in Freestyle.......Rod Schmidt and Grave Digger!
All in all it was a great night of entertainment here in Knoxville, we had a pumped up crowd and a fired up group of competitiors ready to rock. The fans were loud and proud and made us feel very welcome. Thank you Knoxville for allowing Monster Jam to take over and please check us out only on SPEED!
